Pinchbeck Cut Steel Chatelaine, Probably England. Incorporating scissors case, needle case, etui and two thimble cases. Pinchbeck, like brass, is an alloy of copper and zinc specially mixed to resemble gold. The process was invented in the 18th century by a London clockmaker, Christopher Pinchbeck. via Victoria and Albert Museum, London, UK. collections.vam.ac.uk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women in charge of households dangled long chains from their waists to keep  essentials within easy reach e.g. keys, notebook and pen, watch, sewing items, vinaigrette or perfume, or magnifying glass.
